Description

Men are the stronger sex—or are they? Men are bigger and stronger. They can run faster, lift more and throw things farther. Men dominate on the playing field, but they are in fact the weaker sex when it comes to health and longevity (Harvard Medical School, 2019). Men generally live less than women, experience illness earlier in life and are prone to more chronic illnesses.

This course will explore issues specific to men’s health and well-being and discuss strategies to offset genetic and lifestyle risks to help you live your healthiest life. Women are welcome!

Facilitator: Janice Lawrence — PH.D Candidate in Public Health Sciences, BA in Anthropology, BPHE and MA in Physical Education. Find Janice on Twitter @TheHealthProf.

Teaching is Janice’s calling and health is her passion. She both practices and believes in lifelong learning. Janice was a Health Professor for ten years in the US and retired after teaching at McMaster. She has done volunteer teaching in South Africa, Thailand, and Nepal.
