Join the McMaster Museum of Art’s Senior Education Officer, Nicole Knibb, to learn about the past, present and consider the future of art museums. Participants will learn about the history of art museum practice, and how it’s changing, through independent and guided study of exhibitions and collections at the McMaster Museum of Art.
The program will also take a personal approach, asking participants to identify their museum-going identity and needs based on Museum Studies theorist John Falk’s five visitor types.
Participants will learn how to closely observe artworks, work to understand historical and contemporary visual culture, as well as art museum practice. The course will introduce and explore the famous art collection at McMaster University.
Facilitator: Nicole Knibb – Senior Education Officer at the McMaster Museum of Art. Hons. BA Art History (McMaster University), MDes Strategic Foresight and Innovation (Ontario College of Art and Design University).
